Una familia normal (2023)

inglés I ended up giving this series four stars, though the fourth one feels a bit shaky. The show stirred up such conflicting emotions in me that I almost felt like I was becoming schizophrenic. On one hand, I’m definitely against people taking justice into their own hands. On the other, I could see the appeal of bringing back some medieval punishments for crimes like rape. So while I was bothered by who was killing and how, I couldn’t help but admit that an eye for an eye felt pretty fair. Like I said, a bit of a mental tug-of-war. 4*- ()

Capítulo uno (2023) (E01)

inglés The creators introduced the characters and gave a rough outline of the plot. There were the expected Netflix tropes, but nothing extra to make me bump up the rating. It was just the beginning, but the premise is intriguing, so I’m hoping the Swedes will give me a reason to be satisfied. / Lesson learned: Just because an older guy isn’t luring you with a bag of candy outside school doesn’t mean you should lock yourself in a boathouse with him. What are you expecting? Romantic moments with longing looks and a chat about Pokémon? ()

Capítulo dos (2023) (E02)

inglés I’m sticking with a three-star rating. It's not that the series didn't catch my interest — I actually like the theme and find the characters quite intriguing. However, I admit, some of the illogical and odd moments that popped up were a bit disappointing. Without those, I might have rated it higher. / Lesson learned: There's nothing like perfectly hiding incriminating evidence. ()

Capítulo tres (2023) (E03)

inglés The Swedish creators are steadily ramping up the tension, and I’m finding that I really like their approach. With each parent of the main suspects pursuing their own twisted path to uncover the truth, I’m thoroughly intrigued. / Lesson learned: How do you achieve justice? By repeatedly breaking the law. ()

Capítulo cuatro (2023) (E04)

inglés The Swedes really pulled a fast one at the start of this series, making me think the story would revolve around Stella — and I totally fell for it. Now it’s clear that this is all about the parents. The submissive priest and the no-nonsense lawyer (who seems to be a future alcoholic in the making) are the real power players here, despite the creators’ attempts to convince us otherwise. But it’s no use — I see right through it, and the more these two get involved, the more I’m entertained. / Lesson learned: Swedish prisons might seem like a reward, but that food torture takes it to a whole new level. ()

Capítulo cinco (2023) (E05)

inglés It seems like the creators are setting the stage for a big finale, but the issue is that I can already see where it’s headed, leaving the potential punishment as the only real unknown. I get the feeling the series wouldn’t hold my interest as much if it focused solely on Stella, but truth be told, I’m watching mainly for her parents — they’re absolutely fantastic. / Lesson learned: If you’re going to jail, make sure it’s in Sweden. ()

Capítulo seis (2023) (E06)

inglés The Swedish creators wrapped up the story, sparing us the all-too-common frustration of waiting a year for a drawn-out continuation. But to be honest, I expected more from the finale. It didn’t deliver anything that a somewhat perceptive viewer couldn’t have already figured out, and the whole conclusion just sort of fizzled out for me. / Lesson learned: If you're planning a life of crime, Sweden might just be your best bet.
