Baghead: Contacto con la muerte

Tráiler 2

Sinopsis(1)

(Imagem Filmes MX)

inglés Very, very bad. I'm surprised that the ratings here are quite high above 50 percent. Sterile and unimaginative direction, a painful script (dull characters, confusing rules, predictable twist). Baghead strikes me as an amateurish film whose makers have somewhere scrounged just enough money to give it at least a technically decent facade. ()

inglés I was actually quite surprised. It's definitely the more acceptable mainstream for me, not as obnoxiously generic and clichéd as say Night Swim or Imaginary, but going for a slightly different route that's reminiscent of the recent Talk to Me. A girl inherits an ancient house from her father that hides a secret in the basement, there's a witch who has the ability to turn into someone dead, but only for a certain amount of time and there are rules to follow. The look of the creature is great, technically the film is on the level, I was intrigued by the whole mythology around the witch (I have more affection for them than for ghosts), the scares don't work and it's not scary, but it's quite suspenseful, it's not boring and the ending is definitely unexpected. Decent. 6/10. ()

inglés Meh. If you expect a (below) average B-movie, you will get that, if you expect something more, don't even with A Maldição de Baghead. The idea is quite original, but that's about it, because the film fails to exploit even half of it. We are given a basic outline of the story, but it is far from being finished, explained or in any way well grasped, it is just awkwardly thrown at the viewer, making the whole film at first glance an incredibly cheap piece of crap of bland dialogue, uninteresting characters and an even more uninteresting (read totally unoriginal) house in which the action takes place. To our misfortune, there are no good scares, atmosphere, suspense or in short any horror element that should lure a fan of the genre not only to the cinema but also to watch it at home. Moreover, countless things don't make any sense at all, are not told to us at all, and the whole thing is too rushed, straightforward and lacking the necessary foundation or backstory on which the film could build anything for 90 minutes. Good as a 10-minute short benefiting from a central idea, but as a full-length feature on the screen, very tedious and boring. ()
