"Emma" is Austen's most magical novel. It tells the story of a confident, yet very fallible matchmaker who, through her concern for her surroundings, has forgotten about herself. I've known about this adaptation featuring the delicate and fragile Gwyneth for a long time, and now I'm very glad I waited to experience it. There is no need to rush such treasures. This is particularly suitable wherein the viewer appreciates an imperial feast for the eyes. ()
Ugh, I can’t believe how many years it’s been since I first saw Emma. The cynic in me would boo this, but I have a soft spot for British films and series set in large family estates, so I just switched to the appropriate mode and let myself be entertained. I wonder how the new version will fare with me tomorrow. ()
