El equivalente cinematográfico del «juego de la lava», cuando con los amigos os subíais donde sea y no se podía tocar el suelo o se perdía. Por desgracia, El día del fin del mundo ofrece muy pocos atractivos que hagan que el espectador sienta algún temor por los personajes. Y si no tuviera nostalgia de la infancia por esta película, probablemente sería aún más estricto. Al menos el reparto estelar sigue tirando muy bien de la película.

For the entire hour (including commercials), I had been looking forward to the volcano finally erupting. When it did a lot of people perished, incredibly crazy special effects started appearing on the screen and the whole movie finally started developing. The giant tsunami wave that was headed for the city was the best thing to be seen in this movie. It seemed that the director was playing with the movie the way Ed Wood used to back in the day. But it went only downhill from there and the ending was traditional. The only significant strength of the movie is Paul Newman and Jacqueline Bisset.

Isn’t it a bummer when you start kissing Jacqueline Bisset on the beach during a picnic, and instead of an erection, you get an eruption? Volcano Inferno vainly tries to approach the towering original, including the division of characters into groups based on those who value human life and those who prefer the financial aspect. An interesting “zombie” scene with a helicopter, and then for suspense, just a rocky ledge and a bridge over flowing lava, which, due to Paul Newman's traditional emotional coldness, quickly cooled things down. Kudos to the volcano for eventually delivering its magmatic earth-to-earth justice shot.
