Josh y Tiffany se conocieron de niños y, desde ese momento, nunca dejaron de quererse. Pero los estudios los han distanciado geográficamente y los tres mil kilómetros que los separan no contribuyen a cimentar su relación. Para mantener el contacto, Josh graba mensajes de vídeo que después envía a su novia. Pero cuando envía por error la cinta donde aparece retozando con la hermosa Beth, Josh sabe que se avecina la catástrofe. Road Trip (Viaje de pirados) me pareció la primera comedia adolescente que se podía ver. Es como si DreamWorks quisieran evitar estupideces, vulgaridades y fecalidades y quisieran hacer una variante moralmente sana de las películas para adolescentes, apta para los espectadores más jóvenes. Pero no destaco la película por el nivel moral. Road Trip (Viaje de pirados) me sorprendió por su tema fresco, humor no violento y civilizado (aunque tonto). Y un gran reparto.

When I first saw the film, I was much younger than today, hence my original rating. This time I was bored for the most part, at times I even felt second-hand embarrassment for the creators. Since I expect a comedy to be entertaining and funny, a “Boo!” would be appropriate, but one star for Amy Smart.

This comedy never really grew on me, but it's not that terrible either. It's clear that it tries to ride on the success of American Pie, but at least it doesn't unnecessarily twist around the theme of "losing one’s virginity." The story makes sense, but the actual road trip itself isn't really the main focus; there's very little of that here. Occasionally, there's a good joke or an interesting character here and there.
