Con un profundo dominio, Cronenberg nos ofrece la historia de dos gemelos idénticos, el educado Elliot y el introvertido Beverly. Ellos son caras opuestas de una misma personalidad que comparten las mismas costumbres, el mismo apartamento... y la misma mujer. Cuando una mujer especial entra en sus vidas, los lazos que unen a los gemelos, por primera vez, se ven amenazados. Un espresso extremadamente fuerte elaborado por Cronenberg, sin un grano de azúcar ni una gota de crema. El nivel del cine alcanza la precisión quirúrgica. Pero el significado de la película permanece impenetrable cuando se ver por primera vez. Veré con el tiempo...

Cronenberg is a master of the dark corners of our minds, navigating them like few others and demonstrating over the years how skillfully he handles his favored subject matter. In each of his films, we witness what is dark within a person; yet each film remains different, new, and unique. When I wrote this review, I hadn’t yet seen A Dangerous Method, but it was one of the films I was eagerly anticipating.

Cold and detached, but captivating in a weird fashion. Cronenberg portrays perversion again with this psychological/psychopathic drama, but this time we see (almost) nothing. The perversion is just hanging everywhere in the air. Irons delivers a brilliant double performance in a very weird and unpleasant film.

A very bold and original affair. A film so intricate and complex in its essence that it would make for several stacks of studies from different fields. Psychologically very sophisticated, yet emotionally a bit austere (except for the ending, which is really strong and excellent). And Jeremy Irons gives a truly incredible performance(s).
