The structure of this movie is quite standard. It is about outsiders who try to make it to the top in sports - this time it's American football. The only difference is that these young players are criminals and they train in a base. If the film was a bit rougher, a bit more vividly showed us from what hell these guys come from, it would probably have a better effect. This way, it still sounds like a family movie about outsiders overcoming something. Rock, however, is a cool guy in any movie. ()
A solid drama that draws heavily on being based on a true story. Sports movies aren’t generally my cup of tea, but Gridiron Gang was a treat. I was really impressed by The Rock’s excellent performance which shows that he can act even roles like this and I must admit that Xzibit supports him adeptly. A high three stars. ()
