The Big Bang Theory

For the first five seasons, the show had been one of my favorites. I loved the premise and had a royally good time with the gang of geeks and Penny. Each episode had me laughing out loud, and some scenes were truly unforgettable. The first minor hiccup came with Season 6, which was the first time I didn’t give a five-star rating. More disappointment was in store for me from Season 7 on. The creators seemed to have forgotten everything that was so great about the show and turned it into a run-of-the-mill series about relationships, which stayed that way until the finale. If I had known what I know now, I would have stopped watching after Season 6 and wouldn’t have spoiled my overall impression. / Lesson learned: Enjoy it while you can. You never know what's coming. Having watched the first season, I can't rate it other than five stars. The theme was plain and simple, which made it perfect. Penny, whose intelligence is not among her assets, lives on the same floor as her biggest admirer/a member of a four-person group of socially impaired scientists. Nothing huge, but the writers managed to turn this little spark into a massive flame. Each episode made me laugh out loud and brought great one-liners. In the very first episode, two completely different worlds collide, and I was hooked from the start. The pilot introduces us to the five main characters, and even though I didn’t understand all the technical jargon (I’d place my intelligence somewhere between Penny and Howard), I thoroughly enjoyed the episode filled with hilarious one-liners. It's tough to pick the best scene because the whole thing works brilliantly. For me, the furniture assembly montage was an absolute highlight. It’s so relatable to real life; I’ve been in similar situations myself. Though I wasn't installing a sophisticated electronics cooling system, hanging kitchen cabinets on a less-than-ideal wall was just as challenging. (18.12.2017)

Another thoroughly enjoyable episode! Sheldon’s commentary on Leonard’s efforts was priceless, and the scientific dissection of romance by Leonard and the perfect Leslie Winkle was spot-on. The "date" with Penny wasn't quite as perfect, but I won't lower my rating — especially since the internet was down just before that! (19.12.2017)

Another hilarious episode. When Sheldon has too much free time, it's a clear cause for concern. His ideas were hilarious, but his mother stole the show ("You don't hunt, do you?"). Her stories from Sheldon's childhood were flawless, making this another episode I thoroughly enjoyed. (19.12.2017)

I've officially become a fan of Leslie Winkle. Her purely scientific approach to sex and relationships could shatter anyone's illusions. Leonard's unexpected cello-playing skills were impressive on their own, but his explanation of how he acquired them was absolutely perfect. (21.12.2017)

"Gentlemen, to the sewing machines!" I had a blast watching this episode. The Halloween squad consisting of Thor, Frodo, Robin Hood/Peter Pan, and the Doppler Effect was absolutely perfect. Their attempts at socializing at the party were hilarious. From my perspective, Leonard's second encounter with Kurt went much better this time around — at least he didn't lose his pants! "Look, Sheldon, it's raining you!" Another episode that had me in stitches. Never underestimate women when it comes to video games. I know one who could put many gamers to shame; she blew my mind when I saw her finish Dino Crisis in Japanese. Absolutely superhuman! Raj being forgotten was absolutely hilarious. (21.12.2017)

Raj's issues escalate under parental pressure, and as usual, I had a blast watching. "How can I be a gynecologist? I can barely look a woman in the eye!" The grasshopper did wonders for him, but maybe it broke down a few too many barriers. (21.12.2017)

This episode starts off innocently enough with the use of a seriously long-distance remote control, but quickly spirals into a scientific version of a mud wrestling match. One of the highlights has to be Leonard's decision to consult Penny on what to wear for the conference, leading to a ruthless wardrobe purge. (21.12.2017)

Episode ten hilariously proves why lies should be simple. One of the funniest moments for me was Sheldon’s intense internal struggle over saving a chicken. Once again, this show delivers laughs effortlessly, making it a consistent source of entertainment. (24.12.2017)

Code Milky Green and an awesome episode featuring "Soft Kitty." The creators brilliantly played on the common cold, swapping out Typhoid Mary for a flu-ridden Penny, and the fun began. Sheldon was in top form, and the reactions from everyone else were spot-on. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. (24.12.2017)

Another great episode. Sheldon finds himself in a crisis due to a "North Korean invasion," and Penny’s remarks had me laughing out loud. Sheldon’s quest for a new scientific pursuit was brilliant, keeping me thoroughly entertained as usual. (24.12.2017)

The entire episode is all about the relentless, high-stakes battle between Team AA and PMS, both eager to win the physics quiz. Once again, the creators delivered an episode filled with countless moments that kept me thoroughly entertained. (24.12.2017)

"Snipe!", "Snipe!" Leonard's Pyrrhic victory at the auction and Penny's reaction make him rethink his life choices (at least for a while). The best moment for me was Leonard's threat when the others blocked his exit with their bodies. (25.12.2017)

A fantastic episode packed with hilarious lines, featuring a perfect Raj who loses his shyness around women thanks to experimental drugs, though he has to deal with the side effects. The battle for Sheldon's sister was brilliant, and Sheldon's solution had me in stitches: "Eat this cheese without farting and you can sleep with my sister." (25.12.2017)

The episode instantly became my favorite. Penny's blackmailing of Sheldon was hilarious, and we see that Howard, when properly motivated, is capable of anything. It's a shame that stores lacking well-informed staff don't have a Sheldon around to help out. (26.12.2017)

The finale brought an unexpected twist in Leonard and Penny's relationship, even though Leonard, true to form, kept tripping over his own feet. However, what really caught my attention was the subplot — Sheldon's epic battle for the perfect tangerine chicken. (26.12.2017)

Season 2 didn't bring any disappointment, the individual characters were fleshed out and there wasn't a single episode I didn't enjoy. The only unpleasant surprise was the sudden disappearance of Dr. Stephanie without any mention of her by anyone, but I quickly forgave the writers and was compensated for it by being introduced to Leonard's mother. Otherwise, I was satisfied in every way. I had a great time throughout and boredom was not an option. (31.12.2017)
