En 1973, la cadena PBS de Estados Unidos hizo historia al emitir el primer "reality show" televisivo. El programa se llamaba An American Family y seguía la vida de un matrimonio, los Loud, en el periodo en el que los padres estaban divorciándose. Además, uno de sus cinco hijos también marcó un hito audiovisual: fue el primer personaje abiertamente gay de la historia de la televisión, por lo que acabó convirtiéndose en un icono para la comunidad homosexual. One of the important milestones of reality shows in the USA. One family decided to film their everyday life and show it to the whole America. Subsequently, the whole family started falling apart in front of the cameras. Obviously. Just let someone say a little about themselves and it will start spreading as gossip among everyone. And that's just about one event. What then, when people see the whole family's entire day. Criticism, gossip, swearing. That's what we, people, do best and that's exactly why people enjoy watching reality shows so much. And it's quite interesting to see where it all actually began.
