Notorious writer Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho) and acclaimed director Paul Schrader (writer of Taxi Driver and director of American Gigolo) join forces for this explicitly erotic thriller about youth, glamour, sex and surveillance. Manipulative and scheming young movie producer Christian (adult film star James Deen) makes films to keep his trust fund intact, while his actress girlfriend and bored plaything, Tara (Lindsay Lohan), hides a passionate affair with an actor from her past. Thriller, que evidentemente se inspira en los clásicos del género, pero en última instancia parece ser solo una imitación de los mismos. Me sorprendió un poco cuando pensé que era como copiar a B.E. Ellis y ahora me entero de que él es el autor del guion. Se podía ver con escenas eróticas intercaladas y los senos de Lindsay Lohan, pero se trata de un thriller genérico que se puede ver en mil formas y con elenco mejor o peor. Me inquieta el hecho de que me parece que el mejor desempeño fue por parte de Deen, un actor porno, de todos los involucrados.

A film featuring a fairly well-known porn actor in a leading role, especially from a director with a track record of interesting films (like the remake Cat People) and who has also contributed to even more intriguing scripts (Raging Bull or Taxi Driver). It sounds a bit risky, but it turns out that hiring a porn actor isn't necessarily a problem at all. The problem lies with others who call themselves actors, and ultimately with the screenplay itself, which tries to be a big, suspenseful thriller but where the tension is created solely through music and the presence of some violence. Everything seems to be happening outside of the scene itself. Lindsay shows her breasts, but by now, I guess everyone is used to that.
