Spring

A strange film with an even stranger ending. Actually there is no horror to praise here, no gore, no atmosphere, no suspense, no scares, the visuals are also mediocre, but thanks to the really sexy main character and the originality I had no problems to watch the film to the end. The third star is rather for one small example of a nice transformation that is sure to captivate. The potential given the theme was much higher. 55%. (21.03.2015)

To begin with, Moorhead and Benson aren’t horror directors/fans, but smart and distinctive filmmakers able to come up with an interesting and original concept, and, although they use elements of the genre, they can’t be relied on or considered its saviours. Spring is less “horror” than their previous film, Resolution. Actually, it’s not horror at all, but a good film nonetheless (and, unlike the previous one, you can see some production values). Captivating atmosphere, nice cinematography, good performances and an interesting mythology. But what’s important is that I really cared about the fate of the protagonists. (26.03.2015)

There is a horror line with an overlap, which drowns itself in annoying wannabe symbolic macabre scenes, until in the end it becomes unintentionally ridiculous (let's be a church zombie heroin an honorable exception) forcibly incorporated into a decent holiday indie romance with a very nice couple. Spring is definitely a film that deserves the attention of horror fans, even though it's not actually a terrifying horror movie. However, it's also a film that can captivate any fan because its main strength lies in being a good movie with simply complex qualities. There's an original script, good actors who aren't boring, and solid direction. A big and pleasant surprise. (12.08.2015)
