Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance

Amir Shervan tuvo una extraña constelación de estrellas sobre él cuando realizó Samurai Cop, ya que consiguió crear involuntariamente una película fenomenalmente mala que cuenta con una amplia base de fans, para la que un espectador con sentido del humor debe entretenerse de principio a fin. Enlazar con una anomalía así era casi imposible. Gregory Hatanaka intentó abordar esto a su manera y le salió un vídeo musical cursi, estirado hasta los noventa minutos, que, aunque sacó del olvido a buena parte del reparto original, es casi inviable en su conjunto. ¿Qué sentido tiene ser conscientemente malo? Esto no añadía ningún valor. El final, en el que Tommy Wiseau al que con seguridad el director instruyó para que se limitara a balbucear cualquier cosa que le pareciera graciosa, es uno de los clímax más tristes y las escenas más vergonzosas que he visto en mucho tiempo. Deadly Disaster! This movie embodies everything I despise about Asylum films. Intentional trashiness just doesn’t work for me. The original Samurai Cop is a genuine "So Bad, It's Good" gem, a rare find whose charm and ineptitude can't be replicated. When it’s self-aware, it’s automatically ruined. The only upside here is that the original cast got a bit of well-deserved attention after all these years. Other than that, this unwatchable mess with its offensively terrible soundtrack has zero redeeming qualities. I suffered through it, but if there’s a third one, I’m definitely skipping it. I wouldn't give it 100%, but 90% just because there are dead spots that didn't entertain me, but otherwise, this was a totally awesome B-movie, even better than the first film made twenty-five years ago. It's terribly cheap, sometimes terribly stupid, but still beautiful, nostalgic, and with a fantastic musical soundtrack. If they're picking for a third film, I'll be one of the bidders. (07.03.2016)
