(Guanajuato International Film Festival)

I admire films like Songs My Brother Taught Me mainly because they can faithfully capture the sense of place, time, and human destinies. The poverty, although not at the worst level, is evident here, but those people live, they have their dreams, and they are as kind and as wicked as any other person. But I was not impressed by the plot. ()
