A beautiful young woman named Little Cabbage is sold by her family to a wealthy scholar named Yang in order to become his future concubine. However, Yang's overbearing wife becomes jealous of Little Cabbage and arranges to have her married off to a well-endowed peasant. When Little Cabbage's new husband is found dead, poisoned by a powerful aphrodisiac, Little Cabbage and Yang are brought in front of a bloodthirsty court to face charges of conspiring to commit murder. Maintaining their innocence, Little Cabbage and Yang are forced to endure unspeakable torture at the hands of a corrupt judge in an attempt to make them confess. Cleverly told in a series of flashbacks, this horrific and hilarious film features wall-to-wall sex and violence, culminating in an explosive "climax" unlike anything you've seen before. Erotismo sutil, sexo salvaje, violencia física, mucho humor, todo ello envuelto en un ambiente de comedia y fantasía. Cada personaje tiene un carácter distinto y desempeña un papel claro a lo largo de la historia. Y la historia trata del intento de demostrar la inocencia antes de que se ejecute la sentencia. Para los estándares chinos, una historia de amor perfectamente normal y corriente sobre el amor prohibido que contempla con ingenio el coito, con perverso placer el castigo físico y con pintoresca poesía el amor romántico. Un entretenimiento muy exótico para nuestros estándares, imprescindible para todos los aficionados a la cultura china. Has visto Tigre y Dragón. Pero seguro que no sabes que también puedes practicar sexo salvaje mientras vuelas entre las ramas de los árboles.

A Chinese Torture Chamber Story appears to be a historical film, but that's just a facade because, in reality, it's a multi-genre pop culture work that once again proves it's possible to combine all possible elements and still extract something meaningful, hold it together, and make it entertaining. A comedy is a comedy when the audience laughs, and in this case, I found myself amused at times.
