Sinopsis(1)

Francin, a brewery manager, sometimes feels like a hunted man. What he'd like most is to please the board of directors in order to keep his job. He also desires some quiet happiness with his beautiful wife Maryška. But Maryška herself is an obstacle. This passionate lover of life cares little about social conventions, but all of the members of the board adore her. Francin therefore does not know how to tame her. To add to his problems, his boisterous brother Pepin moves in with them. His ideas attract Maryška like a moth to a flame! These two find ways to cause trouble that the manager would rather not see... (Zlín Film Festival)

inglés Menzel was capable of shooting beautiful films, and this is one of them. Closely Watched Trains probably got to me a bit more, but the beautiful poetry of this film and especially its brilliant, Hrabal-esque characters are simply so enchanting that the film captivates you regardless. And yet it's just about one brewery and one beautiful stationmaster. ()
