Brooks Rattigan (Noah Centineo) tiene las habilidades académicas para ingresar en la escuela soñada de una universidad de elite, pero le falta un excelente programa extracurricular y el dinero. Cuando intenta ganar algo de dinero extra haciéndose pasar por el novio de una chica segura de sí misma y amante de las botas de combate llamada Celia Lieberman (Laura Marano), descubre que tiene una habilidad especial para ser el reemplazo perfecto. Junto con su amigo programador Murph (Odiseas Georgiadis), Brooks lanza una aplicación que se vende a sí mismo como un plus para todas las ocasiones. Netflix seems to have a thing for teen comedies lately—more than I ever thought possible. But The Perfect Date is actually pretty fun. You've got a charming duo with Noah Centineo showing off his acting chops and Laura Marano bringing the charm. Honestly, that was enough for me. While there weren’t tons of laughs, the overall likability of the film made up for it, leaving me satisfied with a solid four-star rating.

The Perfect Date offers an interesting premise with a dating app, which gets somewhat lost in the execution and turns into a bland affair, but the film is played in such a sweet and relatable way that you can forgive the cliché and let yourself drift for ninety minutes on a cheesy but still believable high school story. Even though I knew from the beginning how it's all going to turn out, I still wasn't bored and I was rooting for the main characters.
