Sinopsis(1)

A Warsaw-based Vietnamese cook struggles to fit into the European culture, which his ten-year-old daughter has already embraced as her own. A story about love, misunderstanding and food... Long is a gentle Vietnamese chef who lives in Warsaw with his precocious ten-year-old daughter named Maja. He works in a restaurant where his signature Pho dish is popular, but when his boss sells the place to an ambitious developer who wants to serve different types of Asian food, Long has to adapt. Meanwhile, Maja clings to the memory of her Polish mother who passed away. She is afraid her father is forgetting her mother and looking at a replacement in a pretty neighbour who lives in the building across from theirs. As Long struggles to acclimate to new demands, he misses signs of his daughter's worries but Maja's rebelliousness and their closeness soon pushes him to change. (Cinemax)

inglés I went into The Taste of Pho expecting something in the same vein as Ramen Shop, but it turned out to be much more poetic, slower-paced, and quieter—though not in a bad way. Long’s story is deeply melancholic, sometimes even sad, but there’s something really compelling about watching it unfold. Maybe it’s because, at some point, we all feel a little like Long. My only gripe is how short the film is. ()
