Sinopsis(1)

Roman and Emil are two quirky and slightly freaky cousins who dream of attending the Formula 1 race. One day, Emil wins tickets to the F1 Grand Prix in Barcelona… ()

inglés Looking at the cast, you'd expect non-stop laughs. Everything points to it being a comedy goldmine. But once you start watching Grand Prix, it becomes clear that while it's watchable, the characters' stupidity and occasional meanness can be pretty grating. It lacks the comedic lightness and charm that Jan Prušinovský usually nails. It's quirky, sure, but that might be the only reason to check it out. ()

inglés Grand Pricks. Somewhere after the police "raid" at the farm, things slowed down quite a bit, but if there’s a need to prove that white, disreputable elements from the periphery have a heart hidden behind their beer-soaked livers, then why not? The hard liquor is administered in small doses, so there hasn’t been any oversaturation yet. ()

inglés A pleasant surprise. A comedy of a French style, admittedly boorish to the point of shame and full of unpleasant characters, but you can tell it was written and directed by someone who understands comedy. ()

inglés Of the genre categories mentioned above, only the road movie passes muster with Grand Prix, as the film doesn't work as well as they may have originally intended on the dramatic as well as the comedic level. Almost all the characters are incredibly unlikeable and fist-pumping, with perhaps only Tatiana Dyková providing a slight humorous chuckle. Grand Prix certainly looked better on paper than it did on screen, and given the cast, it's a shame about the wasted potential. ()
