The Gentlemen: La serie (2024)

inglés Right from the start, I have to say that I enjoyed the series, I didn't feel bored watching it and I was very sorry that the creators almost didn't use the potential of what, in my opinion, is the best character - the manager, gamekeeper, and Jeff's educator. I have already mentioned this in comments / reviews of individual episodes, but I have to mention it again that in my opinion, even Guy Ritchie did not fully utilize his potential. Of course, it wasn't his screenplay, but I still expected a much larger dose of dark humor and something more than just current cheap methods. I noticed that the concept of an unexpected twist has quietly disappeared from movies and series. Instead, his younger brother from the Twist family is now spreading everywhere. This guy's first name is Expected and his nickname is Basically Annoying. Well, this freak basically dominated the series / first season (especially the last three episodes), ruining the overall impression for me. / Lesson: Not only in saving family traditions and estates the end justifies the means. Refinamiento con agresión (2024) (E01)

inglés Excessive hype usually makes me cautious, so I kept my expectations low. I wasn't disappointed, but I also wasn't swept away by a tsunami of excitement. It was a classic pilot that introduced the characters, setting, and circumstances of the upcoming story, where it seems I won't have anyone to root for. When it comes to drugs, I dislike the producers, distributors, and end-users, so I'll likely remain a strongly impartial viewer. Guy Ritchie is clearly evolving, moving away from the humor that marked his early films... Let's wait and see where it goes from here. / Lesson learned: A stoned chicken shouldn't be handling a shotgun. ()

Han llamado a Tommy Supercherías (2024) (E02)

inglés This episode was significantly better than the pilot, driven by more violence and the cleanup that followed. Given the choice between rooting for marijuana growers, cocaine distributors, or meth dealers, I remain an impartial viewer, indifferent to who ends up in the trunk next. / Lesson learned: If Antón Castillo shows up, it's definitely about Viviro — no question about it. ()

¿Dónde está mi hierba? (2024) (E03)

inglés The episode felt mostly like filler. But hey, it was highly entertaining filler. The driver of the white van wouldn't be my first, second, or even third choice for the job, but it was worth it for the laughs. / Lesson learned: If organized crime can't be eradicated, at least let it be run by professionals. ()

Un caballero desagradable (2024) (E04)

inglés Each new episode gets more ridiculous, with an overabundance of total idiots among the characters. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this parade of absurdity. It was basically another side plot used as a delaying tactic, but I had a good laugh and learned that English nobility collects almost anything (just like many weirdos withot a noble title). / Lesson learned: German Shepherds often have quite the refined palate. ()

Tengo cientos de primos (2024) (E05)

inglés Light breeze, slight rain, and sixteen hours without internet. I thought I wouldn't write anything today... / The series has its positives, it also has many downsides, but above all, it remains an entertaining matter. However, the fifth episode aroused a lot of negative emotions in me when it involved an ethnicity with which I have a serious and unremovable problem. Apparently, I suffer from something that could probably be called selective racism because when you put representatives of both of our largest Asian minorities next to each other, I have a very nice relationship with the Vietnamese, which sometimes goes beyond admiration (although occasionally a worm appears in their apple), while I perceive the Rajasthani immigrants unequivocally negatively based on repeated personal experiences (several healthy pieces of apple are not too visible for the amount of worms). For this reason, the creators amused me but didn't completely please me. / Lesson learned: Knowing how to read and write is not so important if you master numbers, have the laws at your fingertips, and know the word dyscriminacyja. ()

Cualquier eventualidad (2024) (E06)

inglés What a strange episode — dark and threatening. Everyone had an air of mystery, uttering words that hinted at threats to one side or another. There were super secret plans being hatched, which I assume will be dramatically revealed in the finale and it was all starting to get on my nerves. This wasn’t one of those episodes I enjoyed. / Lesson learned: "Hi, great to see you for the second time ever. Could you launder fifteen million for me?" Yeah, that really came off as believable. ()

No sin peligro (2024) (E07)

inglés The longer I watch this series, the more disappointed I feel. Guy Ritchie used to make great films, so I was expecting witty British humor, fantastic action, and a lot of original ideas from this show. Instead, the script feels forced at times with a highly predictable plot that leaves me shrugging at every reveal. / Lesson learned: Life has its share of minor and major disappointments. ()

El evangelio según Bobby Glass (2024) (E08)

inglés Well, the final episode went exactly as expected, the creators unsurprisingly didn't surprise me and allowed for more than a few "unexpected" plot twists, only confirming my belief that Guy Ritchie has already resigned from his former wit and originality. But I don't just want to complain, because it was again essentially an entertaining matter, in which I definitely didn't get bored. It's just that when I started watching the series, I expected much more than just a frequent recycling of the director's older ideas. P.S. The moment when no one heard three cars driving away on the gravel driveway was priceless. / Lesson: If you deal with drugs, a great knowledge of mathematics comes in handy. ()
