Season 1 (2022) (S01)
As a huge fan of the games (and the books from this universe), I can honestly say I’m a bit disappointed with the final result. I really don’t understand why creators often take the source material and completely distort it. Fortunately, it wasn’t that radical here, but what they did with my beloved Master Chief will be hard to forgive. Most of the time without his iconic helmet, and sometimes yelling in battles like a baboon (where’s his stoic demeanor?). The cherry on top was the romantic subplot, where I was shaking my head in disbelief (I genuinely feel sorry for Pablo Schreiber; he put a lot into the character, but there’s not much you can do with a poor script). Fortunately, the action saved it to some extent; at least there, viewers could see a slight nod to the original games, with the final episode being particularly impressive in this regard. As for the subplot with the heroine Kwan, that was a tragedy. We’ll see what the second season brings; hopefully, the creators will learn from their mistakes and produce a higher-quality piece. The potential of this universe is in entirely different dimensions. For me, the first season is a 6/10.

Contact (2022) (S01E01)
As a fan of the entire "Halo" universe, I’m feeling conflicted. Yes, the first episode has some great moments (like the introduction of the Spartans), and the action is enjoyable (with its own brand of bloodiness). Unfortunately, I’m disappointed with the story (which I was afraid of). At times, the casting is dreadful, and there’s a misunderstanding of the source material (like Master Chief taking off his helmet in the first episode and showing his face—seriously?). Also, the portrayal of the individual characters misses the mark. At least the visuals are a saving grace, though there are some amusing moments (like the CGI weapons). For now, it’s a solid 6/10.

Reckoning (2022) (S01E05)
The action at the end was flawless, that’s for sure. However, the story just doesn’t captivate me as much as I would ideally like. And I really have nothing more to add about the tragic subplot with the secondary character Kwan. For me, it’s a cautious 7/10.

Solace (2022) (S01E06)
I found a significant positive in this episode: The annoying Kwan isn’t in it :D Otherwise, it’s an episode without action, more of a filler. For me, it’s 6/10.

Inheritance (2022) (S01E07)
On behalf of all Halo game series fans, I say: Let that annoying Kwan disappear from the screen! Building an entire episode solely around her subplot is an enormous fail in my opinion. I really don’t understand it. For me, it’s 4/10.

Allegiance (2022) (S01E08)
The second half of the episode saved it… because I absolutely didn’t understand the romantic subplot. Why did they turn Master Chief into a complete fool? Oh well. For me, it’s 6.5/10.

Transcendence (2022) (S01E09)
If the entire season had been in the same spirit as the final episode, I would be absolutely satisfied. Finally, the focus is on action, and I felt like I was in seventh heaven watching all the Spartans in action. For me, it's 8/10.

Season 2 (2024) (S02)
Yeah, the creators promised that the second season would kick into high gear and that all viewers would be thrilled. I don't see the improvement. For me, the wide range of subplots is detrimental. To this day, I don't understand why they don't focus solely on Master Chief. Why include some Korean woman? (who, by the way, plays the role of a savior in many moments of the second season... even rescuing Spartans... *insert facepalm*). The action scenes are again minimal... When they do happen, I have no complaints (especially the entire episode on the planet Target... an absolute massacre in every sense), but they are rare as heck. The flood at the end was a nice touch. And we finally got to Halo itself. So yes, I want to see a continuation. I just beg you to work on it properly. Make sure the result is worth it. The second season gets the same 6/10 from me.
