Una crítica evocadora y altamente efectiva de la fuerza policial completamente podrida y completamente incompetente de la India vista desde la perspectiva de una agente de policía recién nombrada que llega a su profesión por pura casualidad cuando la hereda de su difunto marido. La heroína se enfrenta desde el principio a falta de profesionalismo, sobornos, prácticas absurdas y discriminación contra personas de castas inferiores, pero sólo cuando llega al caso de la violación y asesinato de una menor de edad surge la verdadera desilusión sobre la eficacia de la policía. La debilidad de la trama es que la investigación posterior se basa en gran medida en coincidencias afortunadas (y desafortunadas). La historia de una mujer cuya pérdida de ideales y ganancia en conocimiento gradual la obliga a luchar por la preservación de su propio código moral también es un poco aburrida debido al hecho de que ella también comete una serie de errores. La escena de la tortura, en la que se oye más de lo que se ve, seguramente quedará grabada en la memoria, pero la relación laboral atípica del personaje principal con su experimentado superior y el entorno realistamente capturado de las aldeas indias pobres también captarán su atención.

Since I had the opportunity to spend some time in India, I always like to watch Indian productions, or rather the ones that show the real and everyday life of the people of this huge country full of contrasts. I don’t mean exactly Bollywood 😊 Here we follow the story of Constable Santosh, who is new to the police force, and under the guidance of the experienced Inspector Sharma, they investigate the murder of a young girl from the lowest caste. I think criminal investigation in India is extremely remarkable and fascinating, but in this film it's rather skimmed over – I would definitely recommend the very authentic and successful Indian series Delhi Crime for a better idea. Their investigative techniques, procedures, the level of corruption, and the kind of background they have, or rather don't have, it boggles my mind that they are able to successfully conclude an investigation. But Santosh is definitely not just an ordinary detective story. It opens up a lot of deeper themes that make you think, so you don't leave the cinema completely clear-headed.
